John's mom, otherwise known as "Nana", passed away last Thursday evening. She suffered a heart attack and that was all she wrote. She was only 67 but had been suffering from Alzheimers for 10 years. In the end, she was still living independently (with some family assistance and regular meal service) and was able to avoid moving into assisted living of which she dreaded the mere idea. So, there are blessings in all of this, however, 67 is just very young.
So, rest in peace dear Nana and we will all be reunited again someday.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Please pass my condolences on to John. Even with the knowledge we have about eternal families, we still miss our loved ones while we remain here!

Kids are doing well. It has been 4 years since they visited with her last-- she couldn't keep the names straight at that point. It's still the first grandparent they have lost. Ironically, her mother passed away only 6 years ago.
