Tribute to Joann

March 16, 1943 ~ May 28, 2009
CARMEL – Joann Guzowski, formerly of Upland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28,2009 at her home. She was born in Los Angeles, raised in Inglewood, and spent most her life raising her family in Upland. Joann was a Registered Dental Assistant who worked for the County of San Bernardino promoting dental health in the county schools. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter BU in Laguna Beach for 46 years and was involved in many
professional, civic and charitable organizations. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, exploring the outdoors, and had a fond love of animals, especially hummingbirds and
cats. She spent the last five years enjoying retirement in Carmel. Joann was grateful for the friendships and support she received from the staff and residents at the Hacienda Carmel.
She is survived by her two loving sons, John of Atlanta Georgia and Ted of Marina California and six grandchildren: Madison, Kaylee, Sarah, Grayson, Isabella and Parker. She also left behind her loving and devoted cat, Whiskers. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June
6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the West Room at Hacienda Carmel. Burial will be at the family site in Minden Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joann’s name to the Alzheimer Association, 182 El Dorado Street, Monterey, CA 93940, (831)647-9890.
